One expects the Guinness. And the variety of foods are made with Guinness (from the savory steamed mussels, $7, to the rich cheese-cloaked onion soup, $3.95). But patrons might not realize the spirited watering spot serves more than just stout and a subtle, soul-warming mush of Shepherd’s Pie ($6.95). Monday through Saturday, Cregeen’s offers a full breakfast menu including egg dishes, pancakes and cereal (from $1.25 for toast up to $9.95 for Irish or Scottish Eggs). On Sundays, brunchers can feast on a Breakfast Quesadilla ($9.95), a smart herb wrap filled with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and cheese (and green pepper and onion, although the menu doesn’t mention it) or a sophisticated Tenderloin Benedict ($14.95), medallions of beef on a rosemary artisan bread with poached eggs and bearnaise sauce. If not with a Guinness, then perhaps with a glass of bubbly ($3.50). Also serving lunch and dinner.
