— University of Arkansas police have opened their first station in a dormitory on the Fayetteville campus.

The university said the substation in Reid Hall opened Thursday and will provide greater security for the north side of campus where 2,400 students live in six residence halls.

The substation will have a university police officer on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. University police director Stephen Gahagans said officers will patrol on foot, bicycle or Segway.
