Suspicion, great rush soured some on deal

WASHINGTON — House leaders from both parties realized the $700 billion financial bailout vote was too big to enforce party discipline, political experts said in the aftermath of Monday’s failed attempt at passage. Party leaders told their caucuses to search their consciences.
