My late mother Elaine was fortunate enough to have been born into an upper middle-class family in Harrison. She, her twin sister Elizabeth and siblings Zita, Robert and John Paul spent much of their 1930s childhood on 10 acres above Crooked Creek at the southern outskirts of that Ozarks town.
