Equity ends newscasts in 6 markets

Cost-cutting measure taken as firm’s plan to buy N.Y. stations teeters

Little Rock-based Equity Media Holdings Corp. has shut down local newscasts for six markets nationwide, and its plan to buy several TV stations in New York for $8 million is uncertain because of a dispute with the seller as well as funding issues.
