Cowboy Mouth has played clubs and festivals around Little Rock for years, ever since forming in the early 1990s. Lead singer and drummer Fred LeBlanc, who was originally a member of Dash Rip Rock, is known for his wild shows, going back to the days when he would leap from the stage to tables in Juanita’s, kicking over drinks to make his point, as he posed the musical question, “Are you glad to be alive?”

LeBlanc says his band’s fans range from age 9 to 90, with one thing in common:

“Cowboy Mouth is about pretending that you’re 5 years old, naked as a jaybird and about to turn the hose on your parents - and there’s not a damn thing they can do about it.”

The group took its name from a Sam Shepard play.
