Louis Jordan, the entertainer from Brinkley, would have been 100 years old today had he not died in 1975. Jordan was a harbinger, if not he originator, of rock ‘n’ roll. Renowned as a superlative entertainer, Jordan was a masterful performer who royally served his subjects. His music wasn’t arty, but it swings with all the precision of the great big bands such as Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman. Jordan was innovative, but his innovations were in service to of the performance.
